Charles Dickens and his characters are a popular subject of the Royal Doulton designers. This extraordinary loving cup features a couple dozen of Dickens' characters around the body with several names in a band near the base and Charles Dickens' visage is the spout. It is a true masterpiece of ceramic art. The cup was issued in 1936 as a limited edition of only 1,000 pieces. This jug comes with the original certificate signed by Charles J. Noke. A fine example in excellent condition with surprisingly minimal crazing.
