Kingsware and Related
In addition to Kingsware, this section of the store includes Queensware, aerographed brown pieces and other Burslem Flasks. Collecting these pieces is enjoyed by many worldwide as most of these type pieces were originally exported to other countries, including the United States, Australia and Spain. Charles Noke is the original creator of Kingsware, and they are an outgrowth from his work with Holbein and Rembrandt artwares in the late 19th Century. Kingsware combines a uniquely attractive glazing and firing technique with very interesting character studies and figural type jugs and flasks. There are many additional type bodies including ewers, pitchers, kegs, bowls and a wide array of utilitarian type items. Many pieces of Kingsware were developed as advertising wares which expands the interest in these wares beyond Royal Doulton collectors. The first pieces were produced in 1901 with production ending sometime in the late 1930's. For much more information, I highly recommend the book "Collecting Doulton Kingsware" by Jocelyn Lukins.
